Slappy Cakes

Yesterday I took my daughter to a fun place in Portland. It is called "Slappy Cakes" You sit at a table with a griddle in the middle and make your own pancakes. How fun. Then you order off the menu for the different additions to your pancakes. We chose strawberries and chocolate chips for our sweet and crumbled sausage, scallions, and cheddar cheese for the savory. What a fun time.

Here is a cho cho chip creation by Alison.

Finger lickin' good.....

What a nice treat. We did not go out of there hungry!

Afterwards we drove here to touch and buy a few greens for the stash and
some cute new fabric to make a bag for my daughter.

This is the block I'm working on for my next scrappy swap.

Such Cuteness................

I was on a mission the other day to find some monofil thread to quilt my sisters quilt  and I found the cutest pattern. I decided to make one to tuck into the mailer along with my blocks for a swap that I am in. This is the result......

The pattern uses a piece of metal tape measure in the casing at the top to close it. So clever and my hubby just happened to have an old one lying around in his shop. I think I will make a few more of these.
The pattern comes with several sizes and hardly took any time to make. Hope my swapmate will enjoy.

isn't this so cute. .....
I used some of my 2 1/2 inch squares to make it scrappy
I just love those little prairie points.

and what about this cute new case for my IPOD!

Sorry people I couldn't get this picture turned the right way.... Anyway
SNAP HAPPY!    Jeri

PS / I did manage to find some monofil thread. Not sure how my machine will handle it, but I'll give it a try. Could be a big tension issue.......we shall see. Could wind up with "tension headache"!

Retirement Quilt

Today I finished quilting this quilt.

It is a gift for my sister who retired from teaching this year. Three of my sisters pieced the top and then sent it to me to be quilted.

Flannel on the back.....

I not sure the quilting shows up very well, but I used a new all over panto w/ Loopy flowers and swirls.

Here is another shot. I used verigated pastel thread on top and white on the bottom.

Getting this mailed off to my sister for binding....... Jeri

The New Kinetics...Live!

Last night my son's band "The New Kinetics" were on stage in town. They had a pretty good turn out of friends and family. They played an amazing set (no bias, I am his mom....). Their band is on a road trip, playing venues from San Francisco to Seattle and back down to San Diego. I had so much fun. It was great to see him doing what he loves to do. YAY....their name up in lights!

There they are on stage.

Check out their Utube video

It was  great evening...................... Jeri
