The First Two finishes

I got a break in the rain today and so I took the opportunity to take pictures of my first two finishes on my new machine. The first one I meandered. This one will go to a friend who is going through chemo.

I love the soft colors of this quilt.

These fabrics were from Amy Butlers first line of quilt fabrics.

and I had to put a stripe of fabrics across the back.

My label says it all......

and here is the Quilts for Kids one.

That is their official label that comes with the fabric.
My first experience at sewing the binding all by machine.

The third quilt is finished all except for the binding. My first attempt at pantograph quilting. I need to practice that a wee bit. It is a little more difficult than it looks. Still................. I am lovin my new machine! Jeri

Learning Curve

Okay so now I have started my third go at quilting on my new machine. Time to try a pantograph. First mistake...............simply loading a bobbin.

Bobbin winding gone wild! or.....

One hot mess!

Well at least I am getting the quilt loading onto the frame.

This one is called Popcorn.

Back on track again and .....oops my third line of quilting is running into my second.....I am not enjoying the ripping out of threads as I didn't realize it right away and woah before you know it you have a lot of thread to rip out. Oh well this quilt is for charity. Not sure that is a charitable thing to say but,we all start somewhere. For a good cause right! Whatever.

on a more positive note I did finish this cute bibs n burps set for a friend at work.

A New Baby in the House

Today is sunday and I have had my new Gammill since Thursday. I had a rocky start. My thread kept breaking and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why? Finally "Jack" the nice man I bought the machine from came for a house call. He was on his way to Boise and was so kind to stop by. He spent a little time tweaking and adjusting my machine and wha-la.....it works fine. Off I went.........

Here she is , isn't she beautiful!

I just finished my first quilt....no broken threads. This is a top I have had for a while. It will be a gift for a friend going through a tough time. I just need to bind it (hopefully this week)

This is just too exciting.......
Seriously....Jeri :)

These are a few finds at the Center Diamond/ a quilt shop at the beach.

I just love these fishies. Planning on making bibs and burps for a friend at work.

More cuteness for the stash...
Oh and did you notice in the top picture I also got a new iron....Exciting I know.
The best news tho is that MY GAMMILL COMES HOME ON THURSDAY!
Can you tell I am just a little bit jazzed about that.

Raining on the Coast today...

Today it is raining on the Oregon Coast. Still it's the Oregon coast and is great to be out here with family. Yesterday it was nice enough to take a long walk in the morning. Here are a few pictures of our walk.

Windy enough for kites to be flying....

My mom just loves this place.

Perfect place for the scooters....The Boardwalk.

Love the picket fence with the birds in it!

She had to get her feet down into the sand....

Mom and Jan

Jo and Desi

and the girls with our little piece of spring...Tulips from the local store.

Today we are inside with puzzles, books, stitching, and just watching the storm outside.
Good times!   Jeri
