September Bee Blocks

Today I spent getting the blocks for September's Bee's finished. Hard to believe we are slipping into October already. Where did that summer go? Our weather is still so nice it is playing tricks with us I think.

This is an action "word" block for my
Sew Bee Wonky friend. I hope
she can read it, I had a little trouble with the
a and the y.
I did learn from this little exercise,
so that's what is so fun about these
monthly Bees.

and these are Converging Corners Blocks.
The quilt will look something like this.....
These are for DGS/ Harmony Group.

She was a gift to my DIL from my son
for her birthday a few years ago.
I used her yesterday with this fabric...

Found this at one of my favorite

Factory Tour

I am in San Diego this week visiting son and DIL. My son is half musician / half artist!  :)  Taylor Guitar's factory is in the area and today my son, husband , and I took a tour.
Now, I use to play guitar in my high school days and still have the old acoustic guitar from back then. Touring the factory gives me a new insight into how guitars are made now , and how they were made back then. Amazing to see all the machinery, but kind of sad to know that less and less hand work goes into the making of a guitar. I am sure this is true of a lot of instruments and woodworking in general.

They are located in El Cajon in a small industrial park.

If you ever get the opportunity to tour this or another
instrument factory, do it . Well worth the time.

Hundreds of guitar backs just waiting to be made into instruments.

Each room had different machinery
and was responsible
 for each phase
of the manufacturing.

Guitar bodies waiting to be finished.

Such beautiful pieces of wood.

Many hands to turn out the finished product.

One more step in the process.

Adding the tiny layer between top , sides, and bottom.

Some finished products.

and yes even electric ones in a rainbow of colors.

The tourist!

What a fun tour. Learned a lot and enjoyed our tour!

Fort Benton Montana

This weekend I found myself in Montana for a friend of my daughters wedding. This was my first time in the Great Falls area. Though a very dry summer for this area the scenery was beautiful.

Fort Benton is the "Birthplace of montana" which I did not know. It is along the beautiful Missouri River. So much wild life along the banks. I loved watching the Osprey "fishing" the other evening.

A picture of my hotel
The Grand Union
and my little white rental car!

The wedding was beautiful.
The setting was the ranch where she grew up.
It was fun watching the activities leading up to the ceremony.

The bride and her "maids of honor"

Time for hair and makeup.

The bride and her brothers.

Such a beautiful setting.

The bride and her mom.

after the ceremony waiting for pictures.
It was very warm.

Lots of pictures.

Such a beautiful bride.

There is the whole party out in the alfalfa with the
Montana hills behind.

and the reception was held in town at the Ag Building.

Now I am  back home for a few days of work and then  off again to see my mom in Spokane.
