Goodbye 2010
Time to say goodbye to 2010 and welcome 2011. I have been in my sewing room today and am looking at a lot of UFO's. I know we all have them. I plan to pick 10 , make a list, post it, and then work on that list all year. We shall see what that list is like next December! I have done this before with good luck, so here I go again. I know there will be new projects here and there, but that just keeps my "hobby" fresh and keeps me interested. For now, I will make a list........
Happy New Year! Jeri

Sewing Machine Blues.....
My machine has the blues lately. With Christmas coming it hasn't seen much action. I have been too busy with shopping, wrapping, baking, etc.etc.etc. Looking forward to January and getting back at my sewing. I did get this book though recently. It has beautiful pictures and some fun projects. It is one that can sit out on the coffee table even (if I had a coffee table).
Maybe my machine needs an after Christmas gift. That cover is just too cute!

Christmas is coming!
I am finishing up these cute Christmas pillows. I won a bundle of this fabric and decided that I needed some holiday pillows.
and...I am also putting the finishing touches to get this quilt mailed to my BIL and SIL. It was a quilt that I started this summer as a mystery project with my sisters.I love the stitched label that I put on the back. I will definitely do more of these!
The Mystery is solved...
I just love this label!
I am finally getting the house in the holiday mood.....The baking has begun...I have the Christmas tunes playing. I love getting out the christmas boxes. So many treasures from the past. I have several framed pictures of my kids when they were small on santa's lap. This is one of my favorites.

Bricks in the Wall
Today I am finishing the last few stitches in my Brick quilt. It was part of this quilt along http://ihavetosay.typepad.com/randi/2010/01/lets-talk-about-a-quiltalong.html
I am so happy with it. This may just be a favorite , or one of my favorites anyway.

Opera Company of Philadelphia "Hallelujah!" Random Act of Culture
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday. I certainly did as I was able to share it with my family. I must say we experienced a very white Thanksgiving in Spokane. It was beautiful and gets one in the mood for Christmas which is now just around the corner.
I found this UTube video on the internet and was touched. I hope we all take time out as we prepare for the coming holiday to remember the real reason for the season, and I hope you all survived Black Friday , Small Business Saturday , and tomorrow ...Cyber Monday.

Busy weekend in the sewing room.....
I was able to quilt two quilts this weekend, which feels like a big accomplishment.
The first one was a quilt made by my sister Jill. It will be given as a christmas gift.
I don't have a picture of the other one yet, but I'll post one when it is finished.
and then I am finishing the binding on this little table runner,
just in time for Thanksgiving.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Quilt Retreat
This weekend I went to a quilt retreat with my sister Janet. What a great time we had sewing, chatting, laughing, sharing, sewing, sewing and more sewing. I did manage to get quite a bit done. We went into town for a little shopping and I picked up the cutest pumpkin table runner. My sister got one too and we got our tops done. Mine even got quilted and bound! What a great time!

Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween to everyone out there. Trick or treat safely.
Yesterday I had the privilege of once again teaching a freemotion quilting class. My 10 students were eager to learn a new skill. I hope I was able to give them a jump start into something that I love doing. The day was a good one. It always is with fellow quilters!

Pincushion Swap
This week I made and swapped a pincushion at the meeting for the Portland Modern
Quilt guild. This is the one I made to swap.....
And here is the one I received..........
Swaps are a lot of fun. They usually involve a small project that can be made in a short period of time. It was fun to see all of the pincushions made by everyone.
I also finished up this quilt. It was part of a QuiltAlong on the web hosted by Old Red Barn Company blog and led by Pat Sloan. I am liking it. It goes well on my dining table.
Okay so enough procrastination. Today I start reorganizing my sewing room storage closet. What a massive undertaking. I will be ruthless and get rid of a lot of ..........crap! Jeri

Swaps
Yesterday I received the cutest bundle of fabrics in a drawstring bag. It was part of an internet swap that I joined on flickr. I was so happy with all the treasures from my swap partner. I sent my part of the swap off today to a fellow quilter in California. This is my second swap that I have taken part in and I think I may have a few more in my future.......
This is a picture of the cute bag and fabric that i received.
I especially love the goldfish strip on the bottom! Jeri

Another finish...............
I have been away for a week and am back home with a day off of work. While visiting my daughter last week in Denver I was able to finish the binding on this quilt which I left behind for her......
A little bit larger this time and I changed the borders a little.
This is my favorite block. Love that center!
I added a few sock monkeys in there for my daughter.
It needed Garys' approval.....................
This was the backing fabric, sorry for the bad picture, love those monkeys!
I will probably have to make another one of these for someday. The blocks go together so quickly and they use up all of those scraps. Simply sashed and bordered.

New Ideas.....
If you ever have the opportunity to take a class from Pam Clarke, I highly recommend it. Today I took two classes from her at the Portland Quilters Expo. She has a machine quilting technique that is unique. It is called Lines by Design, and wow was I impressed. This is her websitehttp http://www.homestitches.com/ .
Today I saw some amazing quilts. The vendors were great as always. I found a cute little pattern and some quilt stencils, and some thread at a great price. I also ran into several quilty friends.
And now I need to finish binding my daughters quilt to take to Denver this weekend.I will post pictures when I get the binding done. I leave you with a picture of a great quilt from the the Expo. I loved this quilt!
