So for several years now the Guild has had a UFO contest and I have participated. I usually have 20 plus quilts on my list in various stages of finish, and I usually finish about 4-5 quilts during the years time. This quilt has been on the list at least 3 times. It sat in a corner with a little bit of machine stitching on it...I hated did not like it and was in the process of unsewing the quilting on it. That is a slow process...and so it sat, and sat, and sat. The quilt itself was a BOM at least 5 years ago, maybe more. Well I have been wanting to try some straight line quilting lately and this was my first attempt at it. Of course now I have my Gammill and it made the process much simpler. Just used my handy channel locks and went back and forth and back and forth. I decided to load the quilt sideways because I wanted the stitching to go up and down. Love Love Love it! and now it can come off the UFO list. Well almost, I still have to hand stitch binding and label it, but it will be done in time for the Guild meeting. YES!
IT TAKES A VILLAGE
This was a Block of the Month pattern
I think two of my sister started it too.....
The houses and trees were paperpieced.
Trying to get a picture of the straight line quilting.
and the back.....
Another straight line quilting close up.
I will definitely be quilting more of this straight line stuff!
Love it! Like my little daycare child says, "I told you". Isn't it a breeze and the straight lines give a nice clean look.
ReplyDeleteI have a few in the line up to finish with lines this week.
